My farthest back Skelley ancestor is William Skelley (1748-1823). He arrived in Virginia in October 1769, fought in the Revolutionary War, including the Battle of Cowpens in South Carolina and Battle of Guilford Court House in North Carolina. He died in Davidson County, Tennessee. Some think he was born in County Down, but I've been unable to find any documentation. Some in my line keep the spelling Skelley, and others changed to Scally.
